Learning Styles
We all have a preferred learning style. Do you know yours? As teachers, we often know the theory but we do not apply it to ourselves. Have you considered your own learning style/preference? It is important to know your style because it impacts very much on your teaching. It is useful to take an inventory of yourself and also check that of your students at the beginning of a course/class. If you do not have an instrument, at least you can make some basic observations and ask a few pointed questions to help you determine the best approach.

I just discovered what I already had an idea about but just didn't know the correct terminology to describe exactly... I'm a Multimodal learner. How I learn things best depends on what the activity is and actually works best for me if I have a couple different ways of breaking it down. Have a little more examining to do about this... Enjoy all!
ReplyDeleteAfter visiting the site and completing the questionnaire, my strongest preferred learning style was the visual. This was not a surprise to me since I absolutely hate reading but for certain cases i would prefer reading than word of mouth. This was really a good exercise because I never imagined that there were so many different styles of learning.
ReplyDeleteJust finished the questionnaire. I always knew that I loved reading but I guess hearing it from someone else and the interaction is a better learner still for me. Hmmmm....... I am surely going to put it to the test.
ReplyDeleteI am multimodal, which is not directly news o me. Generally, the type of activity determines the best learning for the situation. In most cases, I use multiple learning styles at a time.
